Varun Chopra

Varun Chopra is an award winning writer/ director from New Delhi and now based between Vancouver and London and is a is Sundance Ignite Fellow. He became the youngest Indian nation to showcase his documentary show God On A Leash at the Cannes Film Festival and featured among a new wave of diverse young filmmakers in the LA Times in a discussion on diversity in Hollywood.

His recent short documentary HOLY COWBOYS, shot in rural Gujarat, India explores the world of cow vigilantism through the eyes of a young teen, and premiered at the Indian Film Festival in Los Angeles, winning  several festival awards including the Grand Jury Prize at DOC NYC. The film is now in competition of the Oscars short doc category for 2024.

His passion lies in telling niche stories. Compelling narratives with elements of social realism about subjects that dwell on the fringes of the society.
