Cinematographer-turned-Writer/Director, Canadian-Serbian Ivan Grbovic, is no stranger to epic, big scale narratives. His cinematic eye and visual inventiveness combines humour, performance and VFX, often with a snowballing momentum to create an intensity of experience that carries the audience forwards. He is a narrative world-builder with endless imagination.
Ivan’s latest feature ‘Les Oiseaux Ivres’ premiered at The Toronto Film Festival in the Platform Prize Program. It has been selected as the Canadian entry for Best International Feature at the 94th Academy Awards.
Also noted for his debut feature Romeo Eleven, nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay at the 15th Jutra Awards, it is set in Montreal’s Lebanese community, a coming-of-age story about a young man’s struggles with physical disability as he hatches an elaborate plan to meet a woman he met online.
