Writer/Director Malik Vitthal was born and raised in Los Angeles. Co-writing his directorial debut feature IMPERIAL DREAMS starring John Boyega at The Sundance Screenwriters Lab, it not only received the Time Warner Storytelling Grant and Lynn Auerback Screenwriting Fellowship, but it also went on to win The Sundance Audience Award: Best of NEXT.

Imperial Dream led to his show stopping commercial The Talk for P&G and BBDO NY’s My Black Is Beautiful initiative. An unmitigated success story awarded a coveted Primetime Emmy, Cannes Lions Film Grand Prix and AICP Show Honour for Direction. His previous work on Boost Mobile won the AdAge Campaign of the Year.

Vitthal is extraordinarily adept at engaging through timely, empathy-evoking human stories, often combining genres and socially-aware themes in both his short and long form output. Exploring social injustice and unrest to community and the bonds that can unite us, it is always work that resonates with the urgency of our times.
